Matrix, Today, and the Agent: One Workday Workflow

The Eisenhower matrix shows priorities. Today keeps the day compact. The AI agent removes friction between “I thought of it” and “I logged it.” Here is one realistic day in AI Planner — no five-app hopscotch and no “automatic success” promises.

Morning: capture, not a perfect plan

  1. Open Today — what is already burning and what rolled over.
  2. Drop a thread, notes, or a screenshot into capture — up to 20 tasks per parse.
  3. Check quadrants: Q1 for today, Q2 with a concrete date, not “someday.”

If you would rather not assemble cards by hand, tell the agent: “create…”, “close…”, “find done work about…”. More on the agent in this post.

Daytime: the matrix as the work screen

Before calls, open the matrix, not an endless inbox. Q1 is what actually blocks the day. Q2 is important work that needs time. Projects group work without replacing the quadrant: a “Client” project can still be Q4 if it is noise.

Where the agent saves minutes

  • Close three small Q3 items after standup
  • Find a done task and append a “what we decided” note
  • Keep a separate chat session for a release — do not mix it with personal inbox

Evening: a short review, not a marathon

Five minutes: what remains in Q1, what moves to Q2 for tomorrow, what can close. If tomorrow has a heavy meeting, ask the agent and create a prep task in the same chat (see meetings and tasks in one chat).

What this workflow does not promise

The agent will not choose priorities for you. The matrix will not shrink the workload by itself. The tool exists so you see imbalance faster and lose less context between chats and the calendar.
