The Eisenhower matrix sorts work into four quadrants by urgency and importance. It is one of the simplest ways to stop treating every ping as a priority — and it is the native layout of AI Planner, not a template you rebuild in Notion or a list of P1–P4 labels.
What the four quadrants mean
Urgent and important (Do): crises, deadlines, and commitments that move the needle if you act now. Important but not urgent (Schedule): deep work, planning, health, and relationships — the work that compounds. Urgent but not important (Delegate or compress): interruptions that feel loud but rarely change outcomes. Neither (Eliminate or park): busywork, stale threads, and “shoulds” that never earn a slot.
Most people drown in the third quadrant: messenger pings, status updates, and reactive email. The matrix does not make those messages disappear — it makes the trade-off visible before you spend the afternoon on them.
How to use the matrix without ceremony
